We had the good fortune of connecting with Andrei Rusu and we’ve shared our conversation below. Hi Andrei, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success? I believe that one of the most vital elements for achieving success is the combination of passion, dedication, hard work, and genuine enjoyment for what I do. Having been involved in the architecture and design field for over two decades, I can confidently affirm that I have cherished every moment of my career. If given the opportunity to rewind time, I would undoubtedly choose the same path once again. I think that the key to success in any profession lies in the ability to cultivate love and enthusiasm for the work you pursue.
What should our readers know about your business? Our primary focus at our studio revolves around architectural visualization, catering to architects, developers, and interior designers who seek to bring their visions to life. With over two decades of experience in the field of architecture, I have gained valuable insights into our clients’ needs. By applying this knowledge with passion and dedication, I have consistently achieved exceptional results. Developing a keen eye for detail and photorealism has set me apart in this industry. Working at Kobi Karp Architecture and Interior Design for over ten years, particularly as the Director of Design and Architectural Visualization, played a significant role in accumulating this experience. During my tenure, I was fortunate to contribute to various projects, ranging from luxury residential homes to multifamily residences, hospitality, historic preservation, and master planning. Here I had the opportunity of collaborating with renowned architects such as Richard Meier, Renzo Piano, Jean Nouvel, Peter Marino, Robert Stern, and others providing me with a global perspective and confidence in undertaking projects of diverse magnitudes. At 3DD+, we strive for excellence by leveraging our past experiences while embracing new technologies. The creative process and meticulous attention to detail are pivotal in achieving outstanding visualizations for each project. One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned in this field is the importance of listening, both to clients and team members. Recognizing that a project requires a collective effort, listening to all team players serves as the first step towards effective leadership.
The decision to start my own business stemmed from a desire to establish and further develop my personal brand. Additionally, it granted me the opportunity to strike a balance between work and family life, which can be quite challenging to achieve. The greatest hurdle I encountered was stepping out of my comfort zone and transitioning from a great position in a well-established architecture firm in Miami to building everything from scratch.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to? Having been born and raised in Romania and now residing in South Florida, I always take a great pleasure in hosting family and friends. My recommended first step on the itinerary is Miami Beach, where one can enjoy a day at the beach while experiencing a captivating blend of history, both past and present, in which my profession has allowed me to participate. The vibrant nightlife of Miami Beach is an integral part of the experience, so I highly recommend dedicating more time beyond midnight. Exploring downtown Miami and Brickell provides a glimpse into Miami’s diverse urban culture, while Coral Gables offers a unique Miami vibe worth exploring. Wynnwood is an absolute must-visit spot on this tour, as it holds personal importance for me as the place where I used to work and contributed as the lead designer for several significant buildings in the area. Allocating a day to Fort Lauderdale Beach and Las Olas is also essential. Lastly, an Everglades trip is a great way to escape the cityscape and immerse oneself in pristine nature of South Florida.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout? I am extremely grateful to my parents for their invaluable contribution to my journey in architecture. Since the early age of 15they have supported my decision to pursue a career in architecture. They have provided me with education, support, and guidance, which have been crucial in helping me achieve my chosen career path. Studying architecture on 2 continents, Europe and America and holding an architecture degree has been a great achievement that influenced my career path. I would also like to express my heartfelt appreciation for the mentors who have guided me along the way and the amazing friendships I have formed with my coworkers throughout the years. Additionally, I owe a special thank you to my wife, for her unconditional support, encouragement, and her significant role behind the scenes in the success of our firm. I would also like to give a special thanks to my amazing daughters for always putting up with me. Their understanding have been truly remarkable, and I am incredibly grateful for their great support.
